JumpStart Kindergarten
Transition Program
Jump Start orients kindergartners and their families to their new school community. Children come to their new school, meet staff and peers, and practice kindergarten routines. Most elementary schools choose to offer Jump Start, which is a voluntary summer program. Check back in March to find out which schools will be participating in Jump Start 2023. While not all schools offer Jump Start, every elementary and K-8 school will welcome new kindergarten students with an open house or informal visit to the building to meet staff before school officially begins.
Jump Start Registration
In late April or in May, each participating Jump Start school will reach out to its assigned kindergarten families with information about how to sign up for Jump Start. If you do not hear from your school, please call their office directly to ask how to register. Wait listed students will attend Jump Start at whichever school they are assigned to as of Jump Start week. If you register during the summer and your kindergartner’s school is offering Jump Start, please call contact us to request a registration form, drop by the Admissions Office to pick up a form, or visit the Early Learning Resources page to download a registration form and return it to the school. Please note: families must complete the registration form and receive a school assignment prior to signing up for JumpStart.
